Publish & Share Your Event
Last updated
Once your event is set up, publishing makes its page live and opens registration. From there, one link is all families need — paste it into a newsletter, a class group text, or your website. This guide covers publishing, previewing, and every way to share your event.
Preview Before You Publish
Before you go live, check your event the way families will see it. Click the preview icon next to the event on the Events page, or use Preview public page on the event form. Look for typos, check the date and location, and make sure the price and extras are right.
Publishing Your Event
Open the event and click Publish at the top of the page. In the confirmation dialog, check the box confirming you won't use the event's questions to collect sensitive personal data from minors, then click Publish event.
Publishing does two things at once: it makes the event page live, and it opens registration. The event's status changes from Draft to Published.
A few things must be in place before an event can be published:
- The sensitive-data confirmation must be checked.
- A virtual event must have a join link.
- A paid event must have a price above $0, Stripe must be connected, and your plan must include paid events (Basic or higher).
If something is missing, Lazarus tells you what to fix.
Note: Until you publish, you can delete a draft with Delete draft. Once an event is published, it can be canceled but not deleted, so its registration and payment history is always preserved.
Your Event Link
Every event gets its own registration link. On the event page, find the share panel, click Copy link, and paste it wherever families will see it — an email, Facebook, your website, a group text. You can also copy the link straight from the Events list.
Anyone who opens the link sees your event page: the name, date and time, location with a map, price, any extras, and your description. To register, they enter their email address and Lazarus sends them a personal registration link. See Invite Families & How Registration Works for the full family experience.
QR Codes for Flyers
On the Premium plan, the share panel includes a QR code for the event. Right-click it to save the image, then put it on flyers, posters, or a slide at your next assembly. Scanning it opens the event's registration page.
Your School's Events Page
On the Premium plan, Lazarus also gives your school a public page listing all of your Upcoming events, each with its date, location, and price. It's a single link you can add to your website or newsletter that always stays current — new events appear when you publish them.
Who Can Register
How people get in depends on the event's Invite-only setting:
- Open events — anyone with the link can request a registration link and sign up.
- Invite-only events — anyone can view the page, but only email addresses you've invited receive a registration link. Use this for events limited to your current families, a specific class, or a members-only gathering.
When Registration Closes
Registration closes automatically when:
- the Registration closes date you set passes,
- the event reaches its capacity, or
- you cancel the event.
When registration is closed, the event page tells visitors why — "This event is full," "Registration is closed for this event," or "This event has been canceled."
Tip: If an event fills up and you can make room, raise its capacity under Edit. Registration reopens right away, no republishing needed.
With your event live, the next guide covers inviting families directly and what they experience when they register.
