- Lazarus is built for K-12 private, charter, and faith-based schools, and for the under-resourced teams that run them.
- What does "free with pass-through pricing" mean?
- The Essentials package is free to use when you pass the $25 per-application fee on to your applicants at checkout.
- Are there transaction fees?
- Yes. Lazarus uses Stripe to process payments, and fees depend on the payment type. ACH payments cost 0.8% with a $5 cap. Credit cards cost 2.9% + 30¢. You can configure these to pass through to the payer at checkout.
- Are online payments secure?
- Yes. Payments run through Stripe. Card and bank details are never stored on Lazarus servers, and payment security compliance is handled by Stripe.
- Can you help our team get set up?
- Yes. Send us the reports or spreadsheets you use today and we will migrate your families, students, and billing data into Lazarus for you.
- How does pricing work?
- Lazarus charges per active student, per month: Essentials is $0, Basic is $3, and Premium is $6. Ultimate ($9) is coming soon. Your monthly fee adjusts automatically as your active student count goes up or down.
- Can families pay tuition in installments?
- Yes. You build payment plans once and families pick one at checkout: pay in full, a recurring plan (monthly or quarterly), or custom phases tied to your terms. Recurring plans can run on autopay, and early-payment discounts are optional.
- What happens when a student withdraws mid-year?
- Cancel the student's tuition plan, calculate the refundable amount, and issue a partial refund with a reason and notes, all from one screen. The application fee stays as a service charge and the rest reverses through Stripe automatically.
- Can families apply for more than one child at once?
- Yes. A family submits one application for all their children. Guardian details are collected once for the household, each student gets their own set of answers, and you can accept or reject each student independently.
- Can I charge different application fees over time?
- Yes. Add multiple price tiers with date ranges to any form, such as earlybird, standard and late. Tiers switch over automatically, you can price per student or per household, and any tier can be $0.
- Can I charge for events?
- Yes. Free events are included on every plan. Charging for an event, with tickets or priced add-ons, needs the Basic plan. Families pay when they register, and you can refund someone from the roster.
- Can I limit how many families can sign up?
- Yes. Set a cap on any event and registration closes on its own when you reach it, so nobody has to email the family who was one spot too late.
- What is household management?
- It keeps each family's guardians, students, contact details and notes together in one directory, and links them to enrollment, tuition and invoices. Update an address once and it carries across the platform.
- Is household management free?
- Basic household management is included in the free Essentials plan, along with enrollment applications and free events.
- Can I give my staff their own access?
- Yes. Invite each person with a role, such as admin, instructor or accountant, so they see what their job needs and nothing more.
- Which plan includes websites?
- Websites are included on Premium, $6 per active student per month, along with Lazzie AI. Your site is published on your own Lazarus subdomain, and you can connect a domain of your own.
- Do I need design or coding skills to build the site?
- No. Pick one of five templates built for schools, choose a palette, and fill in a form for each section. There is no page builder to break.
- Do my changes go live right away?
- No. Changes wait in a draft until you publish, so you can tinker as much as you like.
- Can I use my school's own domain?
- Yes. Connect your school's domain and Lazarus checks the DNS for you.
- Will my events and tuition show up on the site?
- Yes. Events you add in Lazarus appear on your site, and so do your tuition details and your Apply button, so you are not updating the same thing in two places.
- What is Lazzie AI?
- Lazzie is the assistant in Lazarus who knows your records. Ask in plain words, such as who still owes for the field trip or how many spots are left at the open house, and he looks it up and brings back the numbers.
- Can Lazzie change my records?
- No. Lazzie reads your records but can't change them (yet). He sees what you can see, and only at your school.
- How do I know Lazzie's answers are right?
- Every answer comes with the records behind it, as cards and tables you can check.
- Which plan includes Lazzie AI?
- Lazzie AI is included on Premium, $6 per active student per month, along with websites.
- How do I get my existing information into Lazarus?
- Sometimes it is as simple as sending a few reports. When it is harder, we work with you closely and can handle the migration ourselves.
- I haven't kept my tuition records up to date. Do you offer catch-up services?
- Yes. Contact us and we will tell you what we can do.
- Do I need to install any software?
- No. Lazarus runs in the browser on any computer, tablet, or phone, and you always have the latest version.
- Can we process fee payments through Lazarus?
- Yes. Lazarus includes online payment processing, payment plans, autopay, fee reminders, and financial reporting. Parents can pay by card or bank transfer.
- Do you prepare tax documents for parents?
- If you use Lazarus for tuition billing, it can generate tax documents for parents.
- Who can see sensitive student and staff information?
- Access is role-based. Each person sees only what their role needs, and you control permissions for every staff member.
- What happens to our data at academic year rollover?
- Historical data is kept. Relevant student and staff information carries forward automatically, and previous years stay available for reporting.
- Can we change our plan later?
- Yes. You can change plans at any time as your school grows or your needs change.
- Can I cancel at any time?
- Yes. You are never locked in.
